The easiest getaway from Bengaluru for a mere half day trip would be this place: Nandi Hills. Situated around 110 kms away from the metropolitan, Nandi Hills is a one time destination that people prefer to go to whenever they visit Bengaluru or come to Bengaluru.
I planned this road trip with my friend Abhisek (the guy with the Dominar 400) right after I shifted to Bengaluru. So, the two of us and one bike ensured we were all set for the trip. We started from Bellandur at 4:30 A.M. on a Saturday morning and got a good road to journey on. We reached Nandi Hills at around 6:15 A.M. The plan was to watch the sunrise but it turned out the weather at Nandi Hills took a turn and we could not see any sun, in fact it was windy and all we could enjoy was fog and clouds passing from one mountain to another.
We wanted some time off from the daily and had decided to do this trip but when we reached, we realised there were many wanting to experience the same. We were accompanied by a huge crowd that day, no clue why. It felt like the whole of Bengaluru was there, there was traffic near Nandi Hills and everyone wanted to see the sunrise on the very same day, huh!
On our return journey, we stopped at a small tea stall where we had tea and Maggi. It took us roughly the same amount of time and we reached Bengaluru at around 10. The journey was smooth as the roads were amazing and also because Dominar is a comfortable bike for both the rider as well as the person sitting behind. I hadn't really ridden a sport bike till then, so I tried my hands on the Dominar and rode it for some 30 minutes.
Coming to the expenses, our only expense incurred was fuel and food which cost us around 700 in total. That's it for two people.
