Nandi Hills - One Day Outing Destination

Nandi Hills(also known as Nandidurg) is situated in Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka state. It is 60 km away from Bangalore and an amazing outing destination. Nandi Hills is famous for its sunrise above the clouds which seems to be nothing less than a paradise.

Over past few years Nandi hills has become a tourist spot in Bangalore. If you want to get away from the chaotic city, hectic day and away from stress visit this place. It rejuvenates your soul and gives you inner peace by watching at the stunning sunrise.

I had visited this place over a weekend in the month of May with my friends. We had booked an Ola outstation cab and started from Electronic city at 3:30 AM in the morning. If you travel by bikes it is one of the best experience. It is a short journey of 1.5 hours - 2 hours maximum. On our way to Nandi hills the express highway view was mesmerizing. When we reached at the foothills there was a huge lines of cars and bikes as it was a weekend so many people had come. In between we halt for a while to have tea and biscuits, enjoying the weather, the fresh air and the blissful morning. The gate at Nandi  Hills opens at 6 AM, we entered it and directly went to see the beautiful view of sunrise between the clouds. 

I have always been a sunset person this was the first time in life when I saw the sunrise. I was stunned by the view but couldn't enjoy for a long time as the place was too crowded. Luckily we found a place at the Tipu's drop point. The history behind this point is that Tipu Sultan use to throw off the prisoners from this point to death. 

After spending few hours at the point we moved towards the garden in Nandi Hills. The garden was beautiful as well with different types of trees, plants and flowers. We also came across a temple called as the Yoga Nandesshwar Temple. As the name suggest it is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

After spending an hour at the garden we had breakfast coming at the foothills. We left Nandi Hills at 11 AM and travel back to Electronic city in our cab.

Overall the experience was great. The sunrise, the view, the weather and friends everything seemed perfect. It is one of the best outing destination near the city. Activities like camping, day out at the foothills, trekking in Skandgiri near to Nandi Hill, paragliding, cycling and biking.

I would recommend everyone to visit once to Nandi Hills whenever you are in Bangalore.
