It was a Sunday morning, the plan was to hit the road and explore another place. Are you one who love morning rides? What about hilltops? If you love both - Here is one for you - "Avalabetta". This place is small hill station around 120km from Bengaluru via Chikkaballapur.
Avalabetta is quite popular among the youth, especially trekking enthusiasts. However, it is still one of the offbeat destinations near Bengaluru, so it offers a retreat from the city life as well as people. It is advisable to start the journey quite early in the morning, so you can trek in the crisp air. Once the sun comes out, it can get pretty hot.
We were three riders and three more who accompanied us by car. So, we left at 6 am in the morning from KR Puram which was our starting point via Hebbal and Chikkaballapur on National Highway 44. We stopped at Nandi Upachar at Devanahalli cross for breakfast.
From the Chikkaballapur exit, we headed to Peresandra town, and entered the service road, to reach the hill base. You will love this ride to Avalabetta from the start. NH44, as usual, is a breeze. Once you enter into the rural roads, few small patch of 3-4 km was bad, the rest of the route was good.
And then, we reached the top of the hill by walk. Going up stairs looks shorter but was slightly tougher. I witnessed an amazing and breathtaking view from the top of the hill and couldn't stop myself capturing those moments. The views from the top of the hill was spectacular.
But I was still searching for that one view point which is quite popular as selfie point or scenic beak rock view point. What is unique about the hill top is that the edge of the cliff juts out of the hill. The view was magnificent.
Somehow, I found that place where few forest officers were present and guiding foreigners about that view point. I still had to wait long time to witness that view point after those officials left that place. We spent some time exploring the hill and the temple while I was waiting before I get to see the beak rock view point.
There was a quite long queue of people who were waiting to click pictures of that view point. Finally, it was my turn and was really excited to capture that beautiful scenic moment.
I was quite fearless, though there were lot of rumours about that place being very dangerous view point and lot of bad experiences. Now it is barricaded and banned from entering and taking pictures as it dangerous.
Though Avalabetta is picking up fame as a quick day trip from Bengaluru, many people are still unaware of it.
