Solo traveling is a lot of fun, but it can be a lot of preparation, research, hassle and time consuming as well. The best part of solo travel is the freedom that comes along with it. When we are aiming for freedom, it is hardly fun to stick to a pre-planned trip with little choice. With technology at your disposal, planning a solo trip is not much hassle, provided you know where to seek help. In this article, I have talked about three cool apps that should be on the phone of every solo traveler and how to use them for planning your next trip.

Klook

The app is one of the most popular apps when it comes to choosing travelers across the globe. However, it is very unexplored among Indian travelers. This app is a big asset while planning your next international trip. The app has a huge collection of day trips and tours along with the collection of other services like cab booking, data and sim card purchase, and charter services. The user interface of the app is so simple that you can select the package as per your dates, number of travelers and budget. Not only that, but you can also choose the package depending upon the reviews and experiences of other users. The best part of this app is that unlike its other competitors, there are many trips where solo travelers can join as a part of a group. Not just that, these trips will often include pick and drop to the hotel as well as lunch during the tip. The choices are endless in popular tourist destinations like Thailand, Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe, etc. The app has many Indian cities listed on it as well, but the options are too limited as of now.

I can go on and on about how this app can be used in multiple ways, but that would require a separate blog. Maybe someday! Till then, explore it to find the perfect day tips during your entire trip, as I did during my last year’s solo trip.

Tripadvisor

My love for this app started with my obsession with reading reviews about the next travel destination. While exploring the platform, I realized it can be used for much more. While planning a solo trip or even a family or group trip, the most important concern is the choice of places to visit, places to stay, places to eat, etc. This is where the app comes into the picture. Not only you get to read reviews of fellow travelers and get a real idea about the place you are thinking of choosing; it also helps you to find out what to do in a place. You can search for nearby attractions and places to eat in the area nearby.

The main reason I use it for is finding out the places to eat. The search feature of the app is so user-friendly that it classifies the restaurants in terms of menu options, dietary restrictions, budget as well as the traveler ratings. The most exciting part if the photo section of the app, where I often get to see the photos of the menu for a place that helps me decide whether I can actually afford it or not. Whether you are a solo traveler on a tight budget, or a vegetarian or vegan lost amidst seafood restaurants or simply a food lover who wants to explore new restaurants for each meal, this app would be helpful.

So, try this app while finalizing things for your next travel destination and it will not fail you. Here is a post which shares my experience of finding a hidden travel gem with the help of tripadvsior

Booking.com

I chose to keep it in the end place because of the sheer reason that it is simply the most popular of the three. If you have ever planned any trip, you will know the pain of booking the right place. /The struggle to navigate through endless coupons, discounts, properties, ratings, and reviews is so intense that we often give up before finding the right property.

The app is one of the biggest aggregators of stay options across the globe. The sheer size of the business makes the app user-friendly because it can offer you services that other apps cannot. Some of these include booking without making payment, booking without entering card details and easy cancellation options. Another good thing about this app is the user-friendly interface which clearly tells you about the taxes you will have to pay, the details of the property, and the selection of rooms that are available at your disposal. Another amazing thing about the app is that you can often find the cheapest rates here without juggling through promo codes and offers. The popularity of the app also means that you will get extensive user reviews on your chosen properties which can help in making your decision.

In other words, it is clean, simple and effective.

Each of these apps can make for a separate article on its own, but I have tried to tell you the must-knows of them all. There are several other platforms that can be very helpful for travelers and should be discussed, but these are the ones that would absolutely reduce your hassle in planning the trip of your dreams.
