The Ayodhya Haat project is part of the Yogi Adityanath government's initiative to transform Ayodhya into a prominent religious tourist destination. The state government has completed 17 projects worth several crores in Ayodhya in the last five years, such as beautification of ghats, construction of roads and bridges, development of parks and gardens, installation of street lights and CCTV cameras, and renovation of temples and monuments.

The government also expects a substantial increase in tourists after the Ram temple is opened for devotees in January next.
