Imagine spending 500 days at sea, more than the ship's captain himself. Now imagine doing it with your significant other, hula dancing and sipping beer while taking in breathtaking views. While retirement typically brings thoughts of relaxation and exploration, one retired couple who has been married for 53 years, has taken it to a whole new level.

Meet Marty and Jess Ansen, the intrepid great-grandparents who have captured international attention for their indefinite maritime adventures. Despite enduring two years of lockdowns in Australia, this duo has no plans of slowing down, making up for lost time with a passion for cruising. Their story is one of adventure, romance, and a determination to live life to the fullest.

As per news, their journey began long before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Ansens were seasoned sailors with a love for the open waters. After being confined to their home for two years due to strict lockdowns in Australia, they were ecstatic to resume their maritime adventures when restrictions were lifted. And what better way to do so than by booking 51 consecutive cruises on the Coral Princess, surpassing even the ship's crew in time spent on board!

But the Ansens' love for cruising goes far beyond simply enjoying leisurely activities. They have a passion for ballroom and hula dancing, which they often showcase during their morning ping-pong matches or while sipping on cold beers. And their presence on board has not gone unnoticed, as they have become somewhat of ‘celebrities onboard’ according to hotel managers.

Their decision to spend nearly 500 days at sea was not taken lightly, but it was a well-calculated one. With the cost of retirement homes skyrocketing, the Ansens found that cruising was a more affordable and fulfilling option. They simply told their travel agent to book whatever was available, and they have been living their dream ever since.

Despite being far from home and family for extended periods, the Ansens have no regrets. They explain that their family members are busy with their own lives, and at their age, they want to make the most of every moment. And so, they continue their journey on the Coral Princess, and plan to switch to the Crown Princess for an even grander adventure.

As Jess and Marty say, "It's a wonderful life!" And their story serves as an inspiration to many, reminding us all to live life to the fullest and never let the restrictions of age hold us back from our dreams.
