The huge dome shaped building you see behind me is Matrimandir, which means Temple of the Mother!
I met Salman from Mangalore at my hostel in Pondicherry and we planned to visit Matrimandir together.
We had a great time there. It's a town of complete unity and togetherness, with more than three thousand residents who come from more than fifty countries around the world.
It took 37 Years to build it, it's one of the first futuristic modern buildings of India. What you can see from outside is these huge gold disks, there are 1415 of them.
Auroville is about 150 kilometers south of Chennai and about 10 km north of the town of Puducherry.
