Auroville, a spiritual retreat is a universal township where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity. Located in South India, part of Pondicherry. The Aurovillians are from all age groups, from all social classes, backgrounds and cultures, representing humanity as a whole. The population of the township is constantly growing, currently stands around 3,000 people, of whom approx one-third are Indian. Its a kind of a colony that was established by Sri Aurobindo and has been promoted several times by UNESCO. I did not stay in the property so cannot comment much on the accommodation and food. But what I can say is that it is a place for tranquility, a healing place.. for meditation. Auroville means the city of dawn.
