While you can never get enough of Greece, given that there are 227 inhabited and otherwise 6000+ islands, here is a 10-day guide for a Solo Traveler to Greece.

DAY 1 (Athens)

Athens is an amazing place if you’re interested in Greek history, concerts, historical monuments.

Had a one stop 12-hour flight from New Delhi & reached Athens mid-afternoon, so I kept the first evening free to just walk & explore the place. My hotel was 400 mts from the main Monastiraki square, explore the flea market on Ifestou street and by-lanes around the square. You can also enjoy a beautiful sunset dinner on Ifestou street.

After an early dinner, I started walking towards the Plaka, absorbing the live and vibrant vibe with its colorful touristy shops, cafes, and restaurants.

DAY 2 (Athens)

Woke up early and after a nice breakfast started to walk towards the Acropolis via Plaka. Acropolis stands on a hilltop and is visible from mostly everywhere in Athens, it is simply majestic and grand. I would advise to first visit the Acropolis Museum which is right opposite to the south slope of Acroplis to understand the history before checking the majestic Acropolis.

Start the uphill climb to Acropolis from South slope where & cover Theatre of Dionysus. Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Parathenon & Temple of Athena Nike. I bought tickets in advance online for museum and Acropolis.

In the second half went to Panathenaic stadium – where the first Olympics were held.

Evening have dinner on the Aiolou street and also try Bubble tea at Bubble tale.

Day 3 (Athens)

Try the local food Koulouri Thessalonikis -it is ring shaped coated in sesame seeds and baked. Vendors are usually selling it on the corners in the morning.

Enjoy the hustle bustle at Syntagma square and shop at the stores around. Benaki Museum / Mount Lycabettus / Panaghia Kapnikaria Church are other things that you can enjoy, I kept that day relatively free to relax and shop.

In the evening have an early dinner and watch a concert at Odeon of Herodes Atticus. The grandeur of that place at night is breathtaking, the synchronization of the artists, the beauty of the amphitheater at night in its full glory will leave you in awe. The amphitheater was completely packed, so would advise to book tickets in advance & dress in casual formals.

In Athens I did not use any transport to visit all these places, was on foot. Although if you want to go to little far off places metro works best here and easy access from Airport too.

Mykonos the party capital of Greece

Mykonos town also called Chora is the central bus station from where the other beaches are connected. Bus is the only public transport available in this town, or else rent a car

Mykonos town is also the place where the famous windmills, little venice, shopping streets are, so it’s a vibrant area with lot of local art, galleries and eateries.

Paradise beach is where all the beach parties happen till dawn, and then there are beautiful beaches like Platis Gialos and Sorro to sunbathe and have a relaxing day. So choose your stay wisely.

Day 4 (Mykonos)

Took a flight from Athen & decided to stay at Platis Gialos, where I spent the day relaxing at the beach and early evening took a bus to Mykonos town. Went straight to Kato Mills – they were built in 16th century, and we famously know it for Bollywood movie shoots. I carried a small selfie stick with a tripod for those fun clicks.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset from one of the beautiful cafes at Little Venice. For dinner, grab a Gyros at Jimmy’s gyros or Souvlaki at Sakis or fine dine at 180 degree at sunset bar (advance booking required)

Day 5 (Mykonos)

Spent first half of the day lazying at Sorro beach which was walking distance from my hotel in Platis Gialos. Early evening went to Mykonos town to check out Panagia Paraportiani – it’s a beautiful all white sea side church at one end of the Chora town. Take a stroll at Matoyianni Street for some good ol’ shopping and while you explore the streets of Mykonos town visit a gallery or two, they are open for all and doesn’t cost a dime.

Late evening was meant for beach party at Paradise beach, went to Tropicana & Scorpio. Other beach clubs that you can also visit are Cavo, Nammos, Princepote.

Santorini the dreamiest gorgeous all blue-white island

Day 6 (Santorini)

I took a ferry from Mykonis to Santorini, reached in the afternoon and pre-booked a cab through hotel. Fira is the central area, and I am glad I stayed there, everything is very well connected. Spent the first day exploring Fira town - visit the Museum of prehistoric Thera, don’t miss to have a gelato, stroll, shop and you can never have enough of this place. Take an uphill walk till ‘Three bells of Fira’ and enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Book a sunset dinner table at Classico / Character / Mama Thira tavern / Rastoni.

Day 7 (Santorini)

Woke up early and took a hike from Fira to Oia, started around 7:30 AM for this 3-hour hike. Follow the hiking trail – Fira > Firostefani > Imerovigli > Oia. Don’t hurry, soak in the view, the calmness and click some amazing pics. If 3 hours is too much for you, go downhill at Imerovigli to the bus station and take a bus to Oia.

Take a stroll in the Oia town, go to the castle and click some beautiful pics. If you like sea food take a down hill walk to Ammoudi bay and enjoy a scrumptious meal at one of the taverns. Katina tavern is one of the oldest and authentic.

In the second half enjoy a sunset cruise (book in advance) with barbeque dinner and a dip in the waters.

Day 8 (Santorini)

Santorini is famous for its vineyards; would definitely recommend booking one of the vineyards tour and wine tasting. I booked it at Santo wines, where by-chance I had the luxury of an exclusive wine making tour and tasted 4 different wines with cheese and some nick knacks with a breathtaking view of the Caldera.

Pyrgos and Megalchori are nearby towns, enjoy local food, taverns and the quaint village charm. Raki is a tavern which is recommended by locals.

Spent the second half of the day in the quite town of Akrotiri, visiting the red beach, light house – farthest standalone building on the cliffs and watch the sunset which will make you forget the world for few moments.

Day 9 (Santorini)

Visited the Kamari beach, relaxed under the umbrellas at this black sand beach. Then took a boat to the Nea Kameni island from Fira bay, to view the active volcano and enjoy the hot springs. This is good 1-1.5 hr hike so be ready for lot of walking.

Remember Santorini is mostly up or down hill, so be prepared for lot of walking with your steady shoes on. The only public transport is bus, fira being the central bus station connecting all other towns, or else you can book your own car or rent an ATV.
