Hello everyone! good news for us that we can travel now, as domestic flights are operating, if you're planning to travel next year there's no problem but here is something you need to know before travelling to Kamakhya Temple.
Wednesday is less crowded than other days and personally, I like to visit between the end of February to mid of March cause during this time the weather is a little cold and amazing. There are many direct flights available to Guwahati at low-cost tickets. You better board an early morning flight. Wear full clothes.
After arriving in Guwahati airport book a cab or ola/uber to your pre-booked hotel, keep your belongings there then off to temple.
Airport to kamakhya temple distance is almost 17km you'll reach there by half an hour and it'll cost you around 400/- INR. Then it's better you'd book VIP entry pass costs 500 rupees per head. You can leave your footwear just outside the temple at shops which sell offerings.
If you want to go without a VIP pass then you'll have to stand 6/7 hours in the queue to enter the temple but in a VIP pass, it would take 1 to 2 hours. There is bad news for vegetarians out here that if you want to try local food then you won't get any good vegetarian dishes.
For everyone, I'd like to say, stay in a good hotel as per your budget and dine-in some good restaurants like The clove, Oryza, the ethnic kitchen, Kamakhya Grand, Red Hot Chilly Pepper, Aroma Delicacy Restaurant etc etc.
Enjoy the weather, enjoy the trip. Have a happy journey.
