Majuli is a beautiful island in river Brahmaputra in Assam. If you are visiting Assam then this island has to be in your bucket list.

2 days are good enough to explore this island. It's rich heritage, culture and the simplicity is the main attraction. It is a very calm, peaceful and extremely natural place. There is no chaos and an individual will feel very close to the nature.

Majuli can be reached from Jorhat. You can directly fly to Jorhat and then go to Nimati Ghat, from where you can take a ferry to the island. The ferry takes close to 1.5 hours and scheduled in every one hour. There are many resorts in Majuli however, we choose to stay at Dekasang. You can also explore MMT, Trivago to look for some hotels and resorts.

Dekasang gives a very raw experience of staying in a resort which very close to the nature. You can experience the Assamese culture, be it the food, the furnitures, the basis amenities provided, these are generally used in the rural and urban areas of Assam.

Dekasang can be reached by driving through the small village road, through the woods and is situated at the bank of a small river. The resort overview the bright yellow mustard fields. Mornings and evenings we can hear the birds chirping and within a walkable distance is an old bridge, by crossing it you can visit the mustard fields. There is no noise, there is only calmess and peace.

Apart from having a relaxing time at the resort, one can explore the countryside homes, understand the culture and know their rural life. Assam has rich culture and there are numbers of Satras which depict the heritage. Satras are institutional centers which associated with the traditions and cultures. Auniati Satra is a must visit place to understand more about the culture of Majuli. Auniati is just 20mins (almost 11kms) drive away from Dekasang resort.

Next time you plan to explore NORTH-EAST, do consider this unique and amazingly beautiful place for a never before experience.
