Majuli – A great river island

From Jorhat town, Assam, it is approx. 15 km to Ferry Ghat, Nimati towards north. Shared cars are available. But hired vehicles will be comfortable.

Ferry will take 1.5 hours to reach other side of the river Brahmaputra, i.e. Majuli Island. Ferry charges are Rs 100.00 per head. One can book a whole ferry at a cost of Rs.3500.

From other side river bank it will take 15 minutes to cross 02 kilometer of sand shore and then one will reach the most popular tourist place Majuli town.

An individual can stay there peacefully as homestay. Resorts, Cottages are there and it costs Rs.800.00. Assam tourism provided comfortable Prashanti also available. One can accomodate in Ashram/ Satra too freely.

There are many Satra in Majuli governed by Satradhikar. Many students stay there to learn academic education through religious process. Many foreigners come here to learn Satriya dance, which popularity is increasing day by day worldwide.

The people of Majuli are very simple, down to earth person, love to provide services as you want. The historic "RAAS LEELA" is celebrated each year.
