The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, every Indian traveller's best friend, has joined hands with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation to launch a dream project that will encapsulate the best of Assam's wildlife and nature.
The Assam Safari Express, a semi-luxury train, is set to boost the state's tourism by offering hand-crafted “land and railway” packages high on luxurious comfort.
The Assam Safari Express is very much inspired by the famous Palace on Wheels or the Maharaja Express, and will be a full-fledged tour of Assam with affordable luxury.
"Though it will be a semi-luxury train, our team is working to bring down the cost as much as possible before going into aggressive marketing for the package within the country, as well as through our embassies to attract foreign tourists to Assam. The idea is to showcase the beautiful Assam with an irresistible package clubbing comfort and adventure," Debashish Chandra, Group General Manager, IRCTC, East Zone told the Assam Tribune.
The Assam Safari Express package offers three types of exotic safaris. An elephant and jeep safari in Kaziranga National park and a boat safari in Dibru-Saikhowa National Park. This also includes a six-night package covering Guwahati, Kaziranga, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Dibru-Saikhowa.
Bookings for the semi-luxury express open from February 2017. If you have been planning a trip to Assam, then the Assam Safari Express is definitely a sign for you to turn your dreams into a reality.
