We mostly talk about solo female travel here and around the internet too. I think that’s a fabulous idea, but there is a small section of travelers who prefer to leave the conversation. The women who are married, but prefer to travel solo anyways!
Yes, We Exist!
I’m a happily married woman and I love the credit of “Married” and to be very honest is not that different from the past we tied the knot. We laugh, make food together and hang out! And in the past few years, I have been solo trips to places like around India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia. My husband stayed home. Some of them are work related and even if they weren’t I wish to travel solo.
To me, this is not weird, but to others, it’s always hard to grasp.
It Doesn’t Have To Be Merged!
To me, it’s something that is not usual, but we love each other and prefer to live the way we like. We prefer to live with separate styles, hobbies, and interests. Our goals are same, but we differ. Our jobs keep us busy and involve travel. It is not easy to always accompany each other and we wish not to hold back each other.
Time Apart Is Wholesome
I and my husband prefer to lead an unorthodox life. And it’s not that we don’t travel together, we hang out and work from home together. So we give time ourselves together. And we do value our individuality and we preserve ourselves through the time apart. So if I wish to spend a week on THE road or on a work trip, then our relationship will be ever better for it.
I Love Solo Travel
This is really essential! All those years I was hammering to find the benefits and hidden benefits of solo travel, it was not just because I did not have anyone to accompany me. I love traveling with my husband and I love sharing my experiences with him, but I love to travel solo too. I plan my own schedule, I wish to wander aimlessly and grasp to my own needs without caring about anyone else’s. I call it as a pure selfishness. And I like the chance for self – determined and growth that solo travel offers. Those moments are priceless in real life but travel can make it happen.
I have traveled solo all throughout the relationship and I think this independence is what drew him to me. So why should I stop now?
The Re- union Is Much Sweeter
You might probably call me a liar if I say I did not miss him. Yes, I really do. I think that is important to go away once in awhile so that I know how much I miss him and how much I love him. The reunion is much sweeter that way.
