Punjab is a small state of India which shares India's international boundary with Pakistan. Neighbouring states of Punjab are Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir , Rajasthan.
Because of its location at entrance of India , Punjab experience so many chaos, that of all the attacks of Mughals. During 1947 independence Punjab suffers a lot, large area of Punjab became part of Pakistan, division of Punjab affects many people badly, lot of people loses their residence, family, relatives.
Still Punjab overcome all the worse situation and become good state of India.
People of Punjab are brave , hard working. They cultivate wheat and Paddy.
Anciently Punjab was a land of five rivers that why name Panj + aab i.e. 'Panj' means five and 'Aab' means water arises.
Punjab has rich heritage and culture. Punjab is a land of Guru ji, peers, saints, who gave good lesson to people. Punjabi are very generous.
Today I will tell you about different tourist destinations of Punjab.
1. Bathinda fort :
It is heritage site of Punjab. Also it is famous as Qila Mubarak. It is oldest fort of India.
First Indian women ruler Razia Sultan who ruled at Delhi,was prisoned in this fort, when she defeated.
This fort is located at the centre of city Bathinda.
This fort is iconic historic building of Punjab.
There is Gurudwara Sahib dedicated to tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the fort.
2. Takhat Shri Dam Dama Sahib Talwandi Sabo :
This religious place is one of Five takhat of Sikhism. Out of these five ,three takhats are in Punjab. This takhat is located about 30 kilometres from Bathinda city.
3. Golden temple :
In Amritsar, Famous tourist attraction cum religious iconic of Punjab is a Sikh temple coated with pure Gold situated in holy water having four doors open for all religions i.e. Golden temple. This temple is related to 4th and 5th Guru of sikhism. World ' s largest kitchen is langar haal of Shri Harmandir Sahib. Lakhs of people this holy place.
In front of Golden temple there is a Takhat named Akal takaht Amritsar dedicated to 6th Guru Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji who is founder of Miri and peeri.
4. Ram Baag Amritsar :
This huge garden is made by Sher-e Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who were one of best ruler in world. They did many good tasks for public. This baag was summer residence of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and it is completed in 1831. It's name Ram bag is named after founder of Amritsar 4th Guru Shri Guru Ram Das ji. This garden has many trees some are so big like simal tree whose diameter is too large to hold by 5-6 persons who join their hands.
Also there is a Panorama related to Maharaja Ranjit Singh , visual effects made good impact on audience.
5. Jillan wala Baag :
This baag is a murderer garden of many innocent people that were gathered against Royal act of British. British General ordered firing at these people. There was only one opening or entry gate. So these people were martyred , some jumped into well. There are also signs of bullets fired on people. There is a museum who told history of this baag.
6. Retreat Ceremony Wagha Border Amritsar :
Retreat is a English word whose meaning is return. In this retreat ceremony flying flags of India and Pakistan are returned to their position with respect. This is a marvelous 45 minutes celebration . International border gates are closed in this ceremony. There are many places like windows and sitting areas to see the live ceremony. Also there are big LEDs which display the live telecast.
7. Baradari Patiala :
Baradari means 12 doors . This garden has rare medicine plants, shrubs etc. It was made by Maharaja Rajindera singh . There was neat and clean pathway for walking and exploring the rare plants . Also there is a marble statue of Maharaja Rajindera singh.
8. Qila Mubarak Patiala :
There is a old fort named Qila Mubarak in Patiala market. Patiala is a heritage city of Punjab. This Qila was ruined in some parts. Qila Mubarak was made by founder of patiala baba Ala Singh in 1763. After that many other rulers extend and reneunavate this fort.
9. Sheesh mehal :
Maharaja Narinder Singh built this magnificent palace , palace of mirrors or sheesh mehal. This palace was made by both Mughal and European style. This was residential palace in forest having fountains , laxman julla ,gardens, lake and lots of more at that time.
10. Moti bagh patiala :
Near sheesh mehal , there is a historic palace named moti bagh means pearl garden made by Maharaja Narinder Singh . There are 2 bagh one is old moti bagh that was made by Maharaja Narinder Singh and other is new moti bagh made by Maharaja yadvindra singh. This was used as summer retreat by Patiala royal families. There is Gurudwara Sahib dedicated to ninth Guru Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
11. Virasat- e Khalsa Anandpur Sahib :
This is magnificent large museum of Anandpur Sahib which is situated near Chandigarh. This museum has audio , video arrangement to show rich history , heritage culture of Punjab. There is no entry fee, only registation for visiting.
12. Takhat Shri keshgarh sahib Anandpur Sahib :
It is a one of 5 takhats of Sikhism. At this holy place tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded Khalsa on the day of vaisakhi. Guru ji gave Amrit to Five pyarae known as 'Panj Payara'. Guru ji told the people about power of Panj Kakar. This is very holy place of Sikhism.
13. Chattbir zoo Zirkpur:
Famous picnic spot near Chandigarh is Chattbir zoo, popular among kids and youngsters . You can see Many animals , birds, reptiles in the zoo. The great attraction is Dinosaur park . There are many vibrating dinosaurs. Also knowledge about dinasaur published on boards. There is a small artificial cave in which public have to pass through.
14. Kanjali wetlands Kapurthala :
Kapurthala is famous as city of palaces. Beautiful and clean city kapurthala has a rail coach factory which is popular not only in India but also in whole world.
Near kapurthala there is a beautiful natural place named kanjali wetlands.
This is not only wetlands but also picnic spot. Kids can enjoy on slides , rides etc. they can also see rabits and other animals.
Also this place offers boating for tourists.
On the bank of canal view of mangoo trees and canal is mesmerizing.
You can explore Kanjli Wetlands in one day.

15. Harike wetlands:
Harike patan is a small town of district Tarn Taran of Punjab.
While going to Amritsar you crosses confluence of rivers Satluj and Bias. That confluence is called Harike. From Harike two important canals popularly known as twin canals named Sirhind feader canal and Indra Gandhi canal.
Harike wetlands is a beautiful place to see wildlife, flora and fauna. Best place for bio diversity site. You see large satluj river with different view points for telescope to see migratory birds.
You need to walk in forest only few meters to reach the view of satluj river. Once you reached you will see beautiful view .
