We all know about Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev but we don't know where they were hanged and cremated.
Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial has been built in the memory of great martyrs Sardar Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru. The memorial has been built on the banks of Satluj river and is located at Hussainiwala village, near Firozpur city in Firozpur district of Punjab, India.
The memorial has a special place in the hearts of Indians owing to the history associated with it. When the whole nation was getting United in the war for independence and the common slogan INQUALAB ZINDABAD was catching fire, the British army planned to execute the main persons behind this revolution.
As per the court orders, the search sentence was to be executed on 24 March 1931. But keeping in view the large crowd getting assembled outside the jail that could create problems for the British, they executed the death sentence of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on the evening of
23 March 1931.
After they were hanged in the Lahore Central Jail, the news of their early hanging spread like fire and when they saw the crowd getting angry they broke the back wall of the jail and their bodies were secretly brought to this memorial and cremated without any ceremony.
This place is also the cremation place of Revolutionary Batukeshwar Dutt, who died in 1965. His last wish was to be cremated at the same place where Sardar Bhagat Singh was cremated.
