Among the many weekend trips that can be executed from Kolkata, this is one. After a grueling week at office, we set on a Friday evening train to Bhubaneswar. On Saturday morning our car was ready at the Bhubaneswar station and we set out on the voyage, making an early morning stop at Chilika, we had our breakfast. With the breads toasted in the oven, we had a beautiful view of the estuary, birds that flock there and the fishing boats. Our next stop was at Rishikulya river Mohona...an otherwise desolate but serene place spending half an hour in that place, we moved on to our prime destination-Gopalpur by 10 am.

A wonderful fun filled sea bathing followed by a local cuisine lunch was all that tired souls could ask for. Evening stroll in the markets, having sumptuous local kebabs and sea foods was the next in our bills.

Early next morning we set out for Chandragiri to further west. A small hilly forest hosting a small TIbetan Community, Chandragiri was abode of peace and reflection. We spent a few hours in Chandragiri, returning to Brahmapur for lunch. And onward we moved to Bhubeneswar to catch the night bus to Kolkata--an end to a beautiful weekend trip.

A spot where we didnt stay because ours was a two day trip centred aroung Gopalpur, But Chilika is easily one of the places where one can put up a two days stay...For Avian lovers, watersports and its all encompassing serenity

Few hotels> moderate prices, food not so good, extremely relaxing and beautiful sea

Tibetan Settlement...little Tibet..
