Amritsar tour has been in our bucket list for a long time.... but never got a chance... Finally a day came when our wish turned into reality and we packed our bags for Amritsar.
We started our jouney from New Delhi railway station, boarded our train Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi which departed at 7:20 am.
We were served bedtea and then breakfast, though there was not much variety in the breakfast but it was good.
We reached Amritsar at 1:30 pm
From there we headed towards our hotel Fairfield by Marriot, which was hardly at a distance of 5 minutes from station.
The hotel was awesome with clealiness, good hospitality, big room sizes.
We relaxed in our room and then in the evening we went for Golden Temple which was hardly 15 minutes from our hotel.
Since we have had nothing in lunch,we had amritsari kulche from famous Bharawan da dhaba.
Then we went inside the temple, had langar there, in the evening we shopped for amritsar's famous juttis and had some local delicacies near Golden temple like kulcha bun, dahi bhalla, kulfi etc.
If you love fast food then those options are also there around Golden temple like subway, MacDonald, dominos, Gianis for ice cream etc.
Then we returned to our hotel and had a good night sleep after a hectic day.
Day 2 begin with a lavish breakfast buffet at Fairfield by Marriot. I must say one of the best buffets I have had in my life... Huge variety, with awesome taste.
Then we headed for jalianwala bagh and partition museum.... Then we shop for phulkari dupattas at katra jai mal singh which is a wholesale market with phulkari dupattas starting from just rupees 150.
Had our lunch and then came to our hotel to relax.
In the evening we went to Gobind Garg fort, which had many activities like 7 D movie show and light and sound show depicting life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji.
Then we had our dinner at a restaurant inside the fort, named Kesari, the food was very delicious.
With this our day came to an end.
Today we hired a private auto for full day, it came at around 11:00 am at our hotel to pick us and then took us to Vaishno devi temple.
On our way to wagah border we visited Ram Tirath which is a temple of valmiki ji, we visited Attari railway station from where train from Pakistan comes, though no train is commuting between India and Pakistan these days.
We then reached wagah border where daily ceremony takes place between the two borders.
From far away you will see two flags of India and Pakistan.
Since we had VIP passes we got the seat in front row from where we could watch the complete ceremony very closely and clearly.
It was a lifetime experience which fill you with josh and patriotism.
On the way back we saw Khalsa college where shooting of many movies like gaddar etc have taken place.
Since it was our last day in Amritsar, we once again wanted to pay a visit to Golden Temple to see the night view.
Dinner we had at Rang Punjab which is a fine dining restaurant in the premises of partion museum.
With this our tour came to an end. We boarded our train back to delhi which was scheduled at 4:55 am.
