Day 1: Bomdila
I headed straight to the GRL Monastery. The tranquility of the place was overwhelming, and the intricate architecture was a sight to behold. I spent a few hours there, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and learning about the local culture.
After the monastery, I decided to explore the local markets. The vibrant colors and bustling energy were infectious. I found myself haggling with the vendors, buying local handicrafts, and tasting local delicacies. It was a wonderful way to immerse myself in the local culture.
In the afternoon, I visited a nearby waterfall. The sound of the water cascading down was soothing, and the surrounding greenery was breathtaking. I spent some time there, enjoying the beauty of nature and the cool spray of the water.
Day 2: Sangti Valley and Mandala Top
The next day, I set off for Sangti Valley. The drive was scenic, with lush greenery and the river flowing alongside. Once there, I was greeted by the sight of black-necked cranes, a rare and beautiful bird species that migrates to the valley during winter. The serene beauty of the valley was mesmerizing.
In the afternoon, I headed to Mandala Top. The journey was a bit challenging due to the steep and winding roads, but the panoramic view from the top was worth every bit of the effort. The snow-capped mountains, the lush green valleys, and the clear blue sky created a picture-perfect scene that I will remember for a lifetime.
Day 3: Thembang Village
On the third day, I visited Thembang Village. The village is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its traditional Monpa houses. I spent the day exploring the village, learning about the local traditions, and interacting with the friendly locals. The highlight of the day was a visit to the local fort, which offered a glimpse into the village's rich history.
In the evening, I sat down with some of the villagers for a traditional meal. The food was delicious, and the company was even better. As I listened to their stories and shared a few of my own, I felt a deep connection with the place and the people. It was the perfect end to my journey.
