Witness the marvel of Indian Film Industry
Ramoji Film City - Spread over 1660 acres of land, this place is undoubtedly the first and foremost attraction of Hyderabad. Vision of the renowned Telugu producer Ramoji Rao, the man behind Ramoji, has been certified by the Guinness World Records as the largest studio complex in the world.
Keeping the known facts apart let me open up my Ramoji experience. We had booked the general package which comes around Rd 1150 pp. You get the buses facilitated dedicatedly for Ramoji from almost all the local travellers in town. We had booked our pickup/drop buses by calling the number given in Ramoji Film City's official website. We had a seamless commute to and fro and it comes around Rs. 350 pp.
We got down at the film city entrance, with all the drop timings and details from the bus organizers.( I was lucky enough to see Nagchaitanya in his Ranger Rover passing by.) With the entry checking done you get the buses where they takes you to Eureka arena, the happening places of the film city.
There comes the cute royal red beauties, the commute buses within the complex, which is one of the highlights of this Film City. Well maintained, they have number of buses for the transit withing the film city never making the guests to wait in longer queues. Each bus has a tour guide who explains the details on the way. Then the bus drops the visitors at at one point where they can get down, walk around and feel the place. Once it is done you can board any buses going on the way to see the next place and this happens untill you complete all the main attractions. Some of them were the Central Jail Block, The Railway station which have seen in Chennai Express,Paris street, replica of Mysore garden and Hawa mahal.
And then comes the Mahishmathi Kingdom. Yes, Bahubali, the biggest blockbuster of Indian film industry was shot here.
Movie magic is another bliss for film lovers. They have shows commencing from 1.30pm and this was the only place were we had to wait since the crowd was more. Wish I could upload the video here .
Then little bit of roaming here and there and of course, taking photographs
The guided tour ends around 4pm post which are set free to enjoy your complimentary activities. The day on which we visited Ramoji was one of those days where they have night carnivals, Dj and dandiya in association with dhussera and Diwali. You can witness them if you plan to visit from Oct 4 - Nov 10. Out trip wouldn't have been full on worth of we had missed this carnival.
Visit the yester diamond mine -The Golconda Fort
This fortified 5 km of land once witnessed the diamond trade markets and had the famous Kohinoor diamond. Fort has a fabulous view and is well maintained.
You can roam around and hire a guide ,if required, though we hadn't hired any. They have a canteen inside and is a plastic free area. Nothing much here except the view and the stuctures.
And then we headed to the pride of Hyderabad - The Charminar. Surrounded by the local bazaars it has the authentic Hyderabad Pearls and Bangle shops around. You will see sellers selling the pearls from 10Rs, which is obviously not the original one. Get the original ones with a guarantee card from certified sellers where they show you how to test original pearls.
IKEA
Hyderabad has the first and only IKEA store in India (as of 2019), an international brand that sells ready to assemble furniture, home decor , storage DIYs and kitchen utilities. With it's vast space it offers wide variety of home utilities and a shopaholic engagement for 2-3 hours
