Now you can see a rocket launch up close in real time with naked eyes! Excited? All thanks to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for constructing a Launch Viewing Gallery in Sriharikota.
Located just three kilometres from the launch site, the gallery is in the form of a stadium from which visitors can view the launches live at the spaceport.
With a capacity to accommodate 5,000 visitors, the gallery was inaugurated by ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan on March 31st.
On that day, nearly 1,000 people registered using the ISRO website to witness the launch of PSLV-C45 mission from the gallery.
As per the press release by the ISRO, the visitors' gallery has been placed at a location which has clear line of sight to the two launch pads of the Sriharikota Range.
Besides, pre and post launch activities will also be telecasted and explained through screens to the viewers.
Th gallery is a part of ISRO’s Space Theme Park at SDSC SHAR to allow people to witness the launches taking place from the space port of India.
The park will include Rocket Garden, all the 1:1 ratio of beautiful ISRO launch vehicles – Sounding Rocket, SLV, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV, Mk-III–will be realised with a provision to go inside.
There will be lawns with photo points and beautiful fountain will also be set up at the middle of the rocket garden.
The aim is to attract more people and students to know about rockets, witness launches and study about the work done by ISRO.
