It had been almost a year since we hit the roads!! We sure were eagerly waiting for a break from Daily marathon of Life.π₯΄ So, we decided to take the much needed break and agreed to go anywhere around 300kms from Bangalore.
We shortlisted a couple of places and found this one very intriguing !! Though it exceeded the agreed distance parameter , the place surely was looking worth bargaining upon after seeing the pictures on the internet! Soon we decided to meet and without wasting anymore time made all our bookings! What next? We were all set to begin!!
The dawn of July 20th, we all gathered at Esteem mall, Hebbal and off we go!!
On the way , we decided to stop by a place called "Lepakshi Temple". This religious beauty was built in the 16th century, the architectural features of the temple are in the Vijayanagar style with profusion of carvings and paintings at almost every exposed surface of the temple and of course we did not want to miss on it!
The temple was magnificent and well maintained, purohit walked us through the history and explained how the temple got its name "Lepakshi" followed by multiple interesting stories , bowing down to the idols seeking blessings and some local food for brunch!
Here's the few glimpses of the temple
The scenic roadways were breathtaking, felt nothing less than driving on the plains of Arizonaπ
Finally we had reached the destination after a good 4.5 hours drive with minimal breaks in between!
"India's Grand Canyon" located in Gandikota.
Gandikota is a village on the right bank of the river penna, 15km from jammalamudugu in kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.
From the twist n turn entry into the Gandikota fort to the beautiful gorge which is formed by the Erramala range of hills and the river Pennar flowing at its foot, it gives you an incredible feeling and I would lie if I say you will not fall in love with this place! So peaceful! So serene!
Here's some of the pics
Dusk had fallen, we moved towards our tents where some chilled beers and campfire was waiting for us, Sitting by it with our drinks in hand , discussing over life , refreshing memories and having a good laugh! One after the other we all curled up in our tents and tried hard to sleep!
Weather did not allow us a goodnight sleep , Hot and Humid and to of top it all - mosquitoes!
Itβs Day 2 and time for us to head back to Bangalore! Moving out of the tent was a task! It was 9 in the morning ! Hangover and red eyes! We were served breakfast and soon after which we started our drive back home!
Biding adios to this amazing place , carrying back memories of a lifetime!
