I and my friends went on a day trip to Nalla Malla forest last month. It was an amazing trip of nature so we wanted to have a similar this time. We started to Nagarjunsagar Dam which is a popular weekend gateway for tourists from Hyderabad. So we started in the morning by car it took us 3hrs to reach the Dam. As soon as we reached the Dam the whole 26 gates where freed and it was totally flooded. It was an amazing view of water flow.
Nagarjunsagar Dam is the largest masonry dam across Krishna river which perches between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state. The dam has a width of 1.6 km long with 26 gates. Nagarjunsagar Dam provides a higher energy source.
Krishna river is the oldest and the fourth biggest river in the country which flows through the Nagarjunsagar dam. The water flow of the dam is significant for irrigation and energy generation. Mainly tourists take a holy dip in this river. There is a bridge on the river which separates both the states. It has an amazing view when it fully flooded as you can see in the below pictures.
Best time to visit this place is in the monsoon season.
The water seeps through stones and caves around the dam as u can see in the below picture.
Later, After exploring the Nagarjunsagar Dam we started to Ethipothala waterfalls. Ethipothala waterfalls is a 70 feet high downpour situated near Nagarjunsagar. It has a distance of 13kms from Nagarjunsagar Dam. So, we started to Ethipothala waterfalls it took us around 25mins to reach there.
Ethipothala waterfalls is a combination of three water streams and later form a single pond. There is a crocodile breeding centre near the pond, we can explore it by getting down through walks. A viewpoint was built on a cliff by Andhra Pradesh tourism, where people can have a clearer view of the waterfall.
