A complete tourist-friendly destination, Punjab, the motherland of Sikhs in India is famous for its heartwarming population, cultural diversity and other extravagant and colourful attributes known worldwide. Not to forget a pleasurable welcome with a huge Lassi glass (local Punjabi drink), that satisfies your taste buds to the core and the magic this heartland of India imparts.

My visit to Punjab was short lived with my primary aim to experience some farm fresh air, waking up to the sound of birds chirping and revisiting the simple life we once used to relish. I went along with my family and had a rejuvenating stay in Anandpur Sahib. I would highly suggest waking up early and freshen up your soul; moreover, the strong and sharp aroma of the street food that allows you to dwell into Paranthas is a must! I noticed such varied colour shades and it felt so easy to the eyes, unlike spending life in monochromes.

Talking about my stay in Anandpur Sahib, I had preferred an eco-friendly stay with all the luxuries of a hotel. Anand at the Satluj, suggested by a close friend of mine, was absolutely the kind of stay I had wished for! A farmhouse offering and eco-luxury stay rejuvenated my mind and body with such natural ambiance that carried me away from the city life. Such satvik food, made with all the organic and fresh vegetables made me realize how much we have all been spoiling our bodies with packed and container based food stuff. Moreover, in the retreat I reconnected to Yoga, got so relaxed that I am definitely going to start practicing it. The stay reminded me of my granny’s house and all the childhood memories rushed through when we used to run between the green fields and kept hogging for the fresh fruits we used to pluck from tress. Oh! What wonderful day they were!

There’s even a Gurudwara nearby and the clear sound of water flowing by the Satluj River immensely satisfied me. We were also offered a tour guide along who helped us get to every nook in the city. Also, I even experienced dancing on some local Punjabi folk songs with a few artists in an event organized in the retreat and had a refreshing nature walk with my sister. All in all, it was the perfect vacation I had longed and I would definitely recommend Anand at the Satluj to people who want to experience an unforgettable stay! I would definitely love to visit again and feel the warmth and comfort Punjab has to offer!
