Netherlands feels like home. I thought I was the only one to feel this connection to this place but I have heard so many people experience the country in a similar way.
Day 1: Amsterdam
Day 2: Delft- A day trip to this town that seems to have been carefully and beautifully put together
Day 3: The Hague- From once being the capital of Holland to now, the seat of Dutch government- Hague has interesting museums, beach and a down-town worth exploring.
Day 4: Rotterdam: The city was completely reconstructed following the WWII. The city is bold with modern architecture and a port that can be worth exploring. I am not a big fan of concrete havens and so I decided to take a short walk, have lunch and get back to the hotel and rest.
Day 5: Leiden and Haarlem: By now, it must be evident that on my holidays, I walk around the place and chance upon the to-do things of a town. Leiden was warm and pretty while Haarlem was quiet. These places had very different energies and experiences.
Haarlem: Worth a day trip. Beautiful walk and calm NL vibe. It's not petite like Delft but offers long walks of exploration.
Day 6: Zaandam: A full day of walking past the windmills, beautiful houses and an evening shopping at Primark, right outside the station.
This is a 6 day trip. I did 15 days of getting lost. If you are all about making the city feel like your home, you could explore Utrecht, Amstelveen et al. I know there is a lot more to be seen in NL and I also know, I will be back for more explorations to tell newer tales.
