Amritsar- a culinary journey

Day 1

Before I visited Amritsar, I only wanted to visit because of the Golden Temple.
But after visiting, it's the food that has made me salivate every time I bite into tandoori chicken or kulcha.
Here's my day trip food experience in India's iconic city of Amritsar. Foodies rejoice because this city is way more than just the Golden temple.

The streets of Amritsar are lined with lassi shops, kebab shops, chaat shops. Also the variety of fresh oranges and kiwis on the streets is astonishing.

Here's my list of must visit food places in Amritsar.
These recommendations were taken by locals and are the shops frequented by them.

A must try is the Langar in the Golden temple- this serves as our brunch. The laddoo and daal were my favourites.

Amritsari fish is one of the tastiest fish dishes ever. At Makkhan Fish, we ordered two plates just because we couldn't stop eating. This is the Amritsari fish fry.

At Beera chicken house( after the epic fish eating), we are some buttery melt in the mouth tandoori chicken. These two restaurants are just adjacent , so make sure you visit both. Pro tip: bring your appetite with you.

We were full and ordered just 1 lassi. The lassi was the best lassi I've ever tasted. But soon my eyes fell on Rabri, which turned out to be simply a feast for the taste buds.

We also packed some Paneer kulcha from a dhaba near the Golden Temple. Just realised I ate the kulcha without clicking a picture first.
Seems like I need to visit Amritsar again, for the yummy food and more.
