A budget weekend trip to golden temple and wagah border from delhi

The april 13 1919 Jallianwala bagh massacre memorial is along the way to golden temple.

After reaching golden temple firstly i kept my bag in the locker (which is free of cost).Taking some quick golden temple daytime photos, i hurried to the outside as its almost 4 and i need to visit wagah border to witness the ceremony.

I got a shared auto for rs.100 (for up and down) to wagah border. (In b/w i tried an amritsari kulcha from a local shop near to temple which cost rs.90/-) the auto dropped around 1 km before and i walked from there. The auto driver said that he will be in the same point here for the return.

After managing my weekoffs i booked "shane punjab" trn.No 12497 which is a daily train to amritsar jn from new delhi rlwy statn at 6:40 in the morning.This is an 2s chair car journey which costed just rs 170.

after a 7:00-7:50 hrs journey, i reached amritsar around 2:30 pm reaching amritsar railway station. I asked a security about getting to golden temple he pointed to a building just right to the station premise.I went there and i get to know that there, the harmandir sahib trust provides free bus transport to golden temple.I took the bus from there and bus dropped me at a street taking to the golden temple.The street is vibrant with the historic sculptures and carvings, an heritage strt walk and well Yes, quite good photo spots.

There is no any tickets to enter the ceremony.Its free of cost.

Its just amazing and i can assure you... This is going to give you an extreme goosebumps.The BSF co-ordinator is just a motive machine. He boosts us with his words and acts. Around 7 pm the ceremony has ended and i returned to the auto.

The spiritual and vibrant night in golden temple is a must-experience one. different peoples from different places everyone under one roof moreover the golden shining shrine at its peak.. Everything, even the atmosphere has changed in the night. And we could feel thy. In the night i ate the food from the free food kitchen known an "langar".Every Gurdwara has a langar attached to it.And here,in amritsar is serving free food for an average of 65,000 people per day.

I spend hours sitting near to the pool watching the Temple,750 kg pure golden dome and carps in pool.

I slept in the common area for the night.Many are sleeping in the large hall areas and in the boundaries of the temple.After taking a good nap i head to the railway station and took asr-ndls train (12460) at 6:15 am and reached delhi around 2:15 pm.

Tips:-

- keep your luggages in free lockers available in golden temple as no bags are allowed to wagah border ceremony place and lockers there will charge you high.

- Take free bus service to and from railway station

- have food from langar

- Try amritsari kulcha

- Bargain with the auto agents to wagah border as they initially says 150 and above(up and down).
