Day 1

Dumboor Lake is a charming water body located in Gandacherra Sub Division 120 Km. away from Agartala. The look of the lake is like tabour shaped small drum, “Dumboor” of Lord Shiva from which the name “Dumboor” originates. A massive and breathtaking water body of 41 sq.km. with an unending spell of luxuriant green vegetation all around stands majestic for her exceedingly charming beauty and 48 islands in the midst of the lake.
Narikel Kunj is one of the islands which Tripura Tourism department has taken care of at its best. If you want to relax and rezuvenate yourself in one of your weekend then this is the place for the day.

How to go: If you are in Agartala, the capital of tripura, you can hire a cab though bus is available till near by stop Amarpur and from there you have to hire a cab. I would suggest to get e cab from Agartala itself so your journey would been much relaxing and sophisticated.
Train is there till Udaipur anyway. FYI distance from Amarpur to Dambur is around 17km and from udaipur is around 37/40 km and 120 km from Agartala.

Suggestion: if you can spend one night at Amarpur then on the next day you can explore Chobimura, the so called Amazon of Tripura, and return back to Agartala.

Travel description: Rent a  cab first. Cab will cost you around 3-3.5K for the whole day. Start early from Agartala as you can have your breakfast in the middle of the road at Udaipur or Amarpur. From Amarpur, the road is around the hill so expect little zigzag behaviour of the road. First go for Dambur power plant. This place is having functioning power plant from where the whole Tripura used to get power earlier before Palatana power plant. Its having a high current fountain over the hill. You will be amazed by its sound. From there you can start for Mandirghat, the boarding stop for Narikel kunj. Rent a boat from there. Boats are little old aged but safe. You will feel the village atmosphere over there. Boat will be around 3500/- but definitely you can burgain. The boat will take you to Narikel kunj and stay there for you to come back. Once you boarded in the boat, be ready with your fresh mind and camera. It will float through the amazing beauty of village and jungle and many islands of Dambur lake. The fresh breeze will calm your mind. It will take around 30/45 minutes to reach Narikel kunj. Tripura tourism has make this island worth staying and relax. Right now they are building some cottages. One cottages are done which are expected to be completed by December, 2022 you need not to stay in Amarpur. You can have an AC cottage facing towards lake and other amenities also like bonfire, tents. The island is having one restaurent also for the tourists. You can have your lunch over there. Do not expect hygene over food and they are serving basic menu along with bengali thalis. Jetskis are there but little costly in compare to the place. 400/- per ride for 2 person. Anyway spend your quality time there. You can plan a little picnic even. By 5PM try to reach out to the boat to return back because from boat the sunset is unrealistic amidst the nature. Come back to Mandirghat and start to return back.

At Amarpur, Sagarika Tourist Lodge is there on behalf of Tripura tourism where you can spend the night and go for Chobimura next day morning.

Dambur is a must go place of Tripura to discover the unexplored beauty of this sister out of 7 sisters of Northeast.
