Day 1

Visited an amazing village in the outskirts of Agartala. This gram(village in bengali) is a must go for every culture lover. The people of Lankamura area follows an age old tradition of decorating their houses with Alpona during sankranti. Alpona is a kind of Rangoli. In rangoli we use powdered colours but in alpona we use rice or rice powder and water.
A group of people from sanskar bharati Tripura visited the place and found it interesting. They decided to decorate every house with multi colored alpona(rangoli).
30 houses in this village are adorned by these amazing folk and tribal mural paintings and each one depicts a tale.  They conducted a workshop of 10 days to complete their project. The ladies from the village also joined them to paint.
And now this isolated village located near the Bangladesh border is quite a tourist hub. Now this village is known as 'Alpona Gram' and it reminds us how culturally rich we Indians are.
