Bloo Lagoon Eco Village, Padang Bai

Tripoto

Bloo Lagoon Eco Village was our stop after Villa Asmara in Lovina. It was a fair bit of journey, but worth every minute. We took the coastal route from Lovina all the way to Padang Bai. It passes through marigold fields, rice paddies and of course gives beautiful views of the coastline.

You must have heard of Padang Bai, if you ever planned on island hopping in Indonesia. The most popular harbour to head over to the Gilis is Padang Bai. That also means it is the busiest. Not our favourite thing in the world, we have to admit. But Bloo lagoon feels like a beautiful bubble. Get out of that noisy harbour and step into the bubble and you will forget all about the crowd and relax surrounded by nature.

Yes, the location is perfect before going to Gilis or Lombok or Komodo. But what is even more spectacular is the view! Blue ocean and mountains fading into the mist. On a clear day you can even spot Mt Agung, the highest mountain in Bali. We were at Bloo Lagoon when they issued a warning for the eruption of Mt. Agung. We could see the vapours rise up from the crater. We were completely safe fyi, just in case you were wondering. But anyone planning a trek to Mt. Agung had to change their plans since the area was evacuated.

Bloo Lagoon has 25 eco villas with open spaces. The view above was straight from our living room! The villa is equipped with a small kitchenette. Perfect for making that morning cuppa. Bali in general gets pretty warm and our concern with an open living area was how were we going to sleep in the heat!

Problem solved. The villa has a downstairs bedroom which is fully air conditioned. But without compromising on the view. Full length windows mean you get the perfect sunrise as you laze around in the canopy bed. If you can manage to get up, they have yoga facilities also overlooking the sea at 7.30 am everyday. We were super tired from the journey and just caught up on some sleep. But we can imagine it must be fantastic to do yoga with an expert teacher and watch the waves. Talk about de-stressing right!

Different villas have different configurations. They range from one bedroom to massive three bedroom villas. One of the bigger ones have an open bathroom space with a tub! We loved the way Bloo Lagoon was designed. The open spaces give it so much character. Our only complaint with open spaces is the geckos. They don't really harm you in any way, but they did freak us out a bit.

The swimming pool are is unique in itself. Nestled cozily within the village, the shallow end is perfect for kids. There's also plenty of umbrellas and sitting area around the pool if you want to grab a book and relax.

Bloo lagoon is really green with a balinese touch. This charming small temple within the area caught our eye when we were walking around the resort. They grow most of the food they serve in the restaurant within the eco village itself. Along with the yummy fruits and veggies, you can also spot tons of flowers and herbs.
