The Potbelly Roof top Cafe, Shahpur Jat! Hyped as an urban village now, it is all artsy behind the rural facade. As a canvas for unique graffiti, this place has been in the limelight for food joints worth exploring & one of the best budget restaurant in Delhi. This particular rooftop cafe is a hippie happy place admired for its quirky sitting area and vibrantly vivacious interiors. Give your usual cuisine flavours a rest and stop by for a Bihari Sandwich and a cup of joe.
Diggin, Opposite Gargi College! Slightly pricey, but I personally love its rustic charm, huge windows ornamented with hanging lights and creatively painted walls that symbolizes an effervescent quality, making it currently a favourite hangout spot among students and tourists. The homely decor of this place keeps it occupied, so reservations recommended!
Rose Cafe, Saket! After Chattarpur’s lesser-known cafe one of the cheap places to eat in Delhi, French affair closed down, it was hard to find something as homely and for the lack of better term, enchantingly Victorian. Everything about this place is quite rosy; a cafe with a countryside decor away from the hustle-bustle of the mall rats and big multiplexes is precisely designed to complement the surrounding hues of nature’s beauty.
Naivedyam, Hauz khas Village! It is a herculean task to find a personal, intimate and cheap restaurant in Delhi, especially in South Delhi. Naivedyam is a South-Indian restaurant with fantastic interiors and finger-licking food. Overshadowed by other more happening aka expensive joints, this place is perfect for a relaxed evening dinner.
Woodbox Cafe, GTB Nagar, Delhi University! As a Delhi University alumni, this place was/is one of my favourite places to stop by for some delectable healthy snacks and fine cup of tea as it is cheap and best place to eat in Delhi. If you are high on hunger and short on budget, this trendy little cafe is a saviour for you.
Cha Bar, Connaught Place! Best place for a calm afternoon. This place is more than just food. Just being here is a sheer delight, it is a book cafe to satiate both, a dull appetite and recharge those lethargic brain cells. Read on as you order your favourite tea out of their long list of varieties.
‘’People will travel anywhere for good food- it’s crazy.’’
This bizarre combination makes one want to discover any city and is the best kind of investment we make for the sake of decadence. A food capital as it already is, Delhi is a labyrinth of connections that interlinks one neighbourhood to another. Is it a fortunate serendipity? I think so. Succumb to it, feed on attention and live the self-indulgence. While some of us are financially challenged as students or something or other, these particular eateries prove that you don’t need a silver fork to eat good food and have a great time. Explore an array of advertised traditions served at these unique settings in the form of delish cuisines in Delhi, which is not an exactitude of what can be termed as ‘’cultural capital’’, but interestingly it is an epitome of clustered cultural individuality.
